Wednesday (1/28)

Today I joined the CARE center for half a day to be able to shadow a patient interaction and discuss with my supervisor, Sarah, about goals for the week. As soon as I got there, Sarah and I visited a patient to discuss brain health and care as well as talking through their next stages. I really enjoyed seeing this part of the care team as it is less medical and more well being centered, focused more on planning, behavioral skills, and education. I also appreciated this experience because it gave me more insight into the project I am working on and what information should be highlighted versus what is already heavily discussed with patients. I was able to understand what patients are educated on and review the care guide for changes. After this, Sarah and I discussed when I could meet with other members of the team to conduct interviews about changes and improvements to the care guide. A meeting was set up with Janay and I will be able to really dive into the project after this. I spent the rest of the afternoon looking through other care guides for useful information as well as creating designs for the front cover.
